Bookworm

Confession:  I am a bookworm.

I have been a bookworm for as long as I can remember.
I would much rather be reading a book
then doing just about everything else.

I recently ran out of books to read at my house.
As I have read all of the books I own,
some of them I have read up to 5 times.
I was tired of re reading books.
I decided to download some free ebooks for my iPad.
I downloaded quite a few books, as well as just some samples of some books.
After I had finished downloading them I started feeling guilty.
Really guilty.
I felt like I was a traitor. Betraying my true love, books.
So I made plans to visit the local library.
I looked on goodreads.com to find some books that seemed interesting
I wrote up a list
and I took off.

Fast forward to lunch time.
My mom (who is a reading specialist at the local elementary school)
was telling me that she was talking to the kindergarteners
about how they need to keep up their reading skills over the summer.
She told them how I am always reading.
She also told them that when I was younger I would go to the library
and get a stack of books
this big
I would bring my books home
put them at the edge of the couch, curl up, and start reading.
When I was done with one book I would put it next to my pile, already on the ground,
pick up a new book, and go right back to reading.
As she told me this I almost fell off the chair laughing.

Why?
Well, that's easy.
I haven't changed one bit.  Not one bit, and I'm 21.
I still go to the library and get a stack of books this big
I still bring them home and set them at the edge of the couch.
I still curl up in the corner of the couch and read,
and I still lean down, put my book next to the pile and pick up a new one.
What can I say,
I'm a creature of habit.
But this is a habit that I don't mind having.
I just love my books!

My stack of books at the edge of the couch.

  1. I love this. I'm not a huge reader, but I'm trying to better at it. I'm a big fan of Nicholas Spark books, so I'm reading some of those right now. Seriously, I love that you felt guilty. You are the best Jana!
