Birthdays and Bonfires

Today well actually I guess it would be yesterday; (I guess by now it would be on Friday) was Courtney's birthday. Me and Whitney decided late Thursday night that we wanted her to have the best birthday ever so we ventured off to make some decorations for her room and our apartment. We hung up Happy Birthday Courtney signs on her door and in our living room; we put streamers up in her room and piled her bed with pillows. I made her a polka dot cake and we even wrote her a little birthday story. For her birthday Courtney wanted to go up the canyon and have a fire so we got together some friends (including Bryce [who surprised Arielle] and Mimi [who surprised Courtney] all the way from Sandy) and went up the road a ways to have this fire. Sidenote: I realizd just now how awesome it is to say that I went up the road a ways and was able to have a fire, you can't do that if I were back in Sandy. Okay back to the party. So Courtney, Mimi, Adam, and myself decided that we should go buy some fire wood for this fire of ours so we went to Wal-Mart and to Maverick to see who offered the best price for wood, Maverick won hands down. Then we left to go to our meeting place. We started to go to far up the road when we realized there was no way Mimi's van, and Justin's car could make it any further because there were so many ruts in the road from hunters and such. So we had an adventure turning around as Adam just drove back and forth in his bronco like he was on asphalt. When we parked and got out of the car we saw some more cars coming up the road and they pulled over next to us. Turns out these guys had the same idea; it was their friends birthday as well and they wanted to do a fire for their party too. So we ended up not using our firewood and joining in with them because they had lots of big logs and such. So they started up the fire and we all just hung out and talked. It was a lot of fun; and the stars were gorgeous, even though it was a bit chilly out it was the perfect night. I am beginning to realize that there is quite a bit that you can do within minutes down here in Ephraim that you would normally have to take hours to do back in the big city. Life is so simple in this small town, it doesn't take much to keep us entertained anymore.
